OK, I rarely make things like this. It feels so house-wifey to make an oven dish like this, while it's super comforting sometimes. This one has a lot of Mediterranean herbs and garlic in it, together with Brie cheese and cauliflower.
Ingredients (4p):
• 500 gram ground beef • 1 small cauliflower • 600 gram potato slices (pre-cooked) • 1 onion • 6 garlic cloves • fresh herbs (sage, oregano and thyme) • 250 ml cooking creme • 150 gram Brie • salt and pepper • stock cube • ½ cup of your favorite cheese, grated •
1. Pre-heat your oven at 180°C. Start with cutting the cauliflower into small pieces and blance for 5 minutes in boiling, salted water. Drain and set aside.
2. While the cauliflour is cooking, finely chop your onion, garlic and herbs.
3. Get a large pan and add some oil. When the oil is hot, sauté your onions and garlic. Add the ground beef and chopped herbs as soon as the onion and garlic are cooked. Season well with a crumbled up stock cube (optional) and salt and pepper to taste. Safe a little bit of the herbs for later.
4. Get an oven tray and put the ground beef on the bottom in an even layer. Then the cauliflower and finally the potatoes.
5. Get a sauce pan and heat up the cooking cream. Melt the grated cheese into the sauce. Season with salt and pepper and add the leftover herbs. Scoop the sauce all over the potatoes until all of them are covered in a thin layer.
6. Slice the Brie into thin slices and put on top of the potatoes. Put in the oven for 30 minutes, until the top is golden. Use the grill function on your oven for the final 10 minutes if needed.
Tip: serve with a pear and balsamic salad.
Tip: add some raisins or apple into the meat for a fresh kick.
Enjoy!
