Believe it or not, but I never made my own pizza dough before. Until now!
And although it's not like the dough from my favorite Italian restaurant around the corner, it's seriously good and worth making!
The recipe is for one pizza, but it's quite a meal.
I threw some home made bolognese on it instead of pizza sauce and this too was a nice twist, but of course you can add whatever you like!
Ingredients:
• 275 gram flour • 7 gram dry yeast • 1½ tsp sugar • 1 tsp salt • 2 tbsp olive oil • 175 gram warm water •
Mix the yeast with the warm water (body temperature, not to hot or your yeast will die) and sugar and stir well. Let sit for 5 minutes until dissolved completely. Add the oil and salt and mix in the flour with a fork. When it get's too thick for a fork, mix with your hands. Keep the flour close to prevent from sticking. The dough is a little soft, but not too sticky.
When the dough is ready, get a clean bowl and put a thin layer of oil all over the bowl. Add the dough and cover. Let rice for at least 30 minutes or when doubled in size.
You can eat the dough right after that, or put it in the fridge. Before baking or storing, push out the air with your hands. Store airtight for up to a week in de fridge. I made mine 2 days in advance.
Roll as thin as possible, keep the crust slightly thicker. Pre-heat your oven at 220 to 250 (I put it on max) and use the pizza setting if your oven has any. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. The crust will be crispy and the bottom completely cooked.
Make it your own with your favorite ingredients and enjoy!
