So... I was planning to have a healthy meal, but for some reason all of a sudden I was in the kitchen... Making cheese sauce for my pasta with white asparagus. Yeah I know 😅 sorry 😇
Ingredients cheese sauce (3/4p):
• 40 gram butter • 40 gram flour • 300 ml milk • 100 ml white wine • 1 cup grated Gouda cheese • chunks of blue cheese to taste (if you're not into blue cheese, you can use another cup of a sharper Gouda like cheese or cheddar) • salt and pepper • nutmeg • 2 garlic cloves • 1 tbsp dried Italian herbs •
1. While you are boiling your pasta and vegetables (use white or green asparagus, or even broccoli or cauliflower) start with melting the butter in a sauce pan.
2. Finely chop your garlic and add to the butter. Simmer for a while on medium heat (not too hot, it shouldn't turn brown).
3. Add the flour into the butter and mix well for about a minute, until the flour is cooked.
4. Add the white wine while you keep stirring. When the sauce gets thick, add the milk a little bit at a time, until you've added all of it.
5. Lower the heat and add the cheeses. Let them melt slowly, so the bottom doesn't burn.
6. Add the salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. Finish it all off with the dried herbs.
Mix all the ingredients when everything is fully cooked and that's about it.
This sauce is also a great base for cheese fondue, just add more cheese.
Enjoy!
